NO BALKAN MOSAIC CAN BE COMPLETE WITHOUT BOSNIA

2010-07-06

The Srebrenica genocide is and will remain an enduring trauma for all generations in Serbia, both present and future. Each new judgment passed by the Hague tribunal reveals new details and lays bare the enormity of the crime. Although 15 years have passed since the atrocity, social consciousness in Serbia remains largely unchanged. Criticism of selective memory as a prerequisite for reconciliation has been blocked by organized amnesia and relativization.  Notwithstanding the Declaration on Srebrenica adopted by the Serbian Assembly, the attitude to the genocide and to what happened during the 1990s in general remains the main obstacle to normalization both in the region and in Serbia.

Arrest of Ratko Mladic

2010-06-14

Fifteen years have passed since the genocide in Srebrenica and the main culprit of that crime Ratko Mladić is still at large. This is a moral mortgage which prevents us from moving forwards. Many new generations are hostage to this mortgage and the lack of government’s readiness to fulfill its obligations toward the Hague Tribunal.

Israel kills aid workers in international waters

2010-06-02

The Jerusalem Center for Women expresses sadness at the unprovoked Israeli attack on the international humanitarian aid convoy traveling to deliver much needed humanitarian supplies, such as building material and food to the 1.5 million people who have been living under three years of Israeli blockade. In addition to basic humanitarian items, the ships were also carrying medical supplies and generators bound for one of Gaza’s largest hospitals. JCW condemns Israel’s assault in the strongest terms.

Statement on the siege of Gaza and the attack on Ship to Gaza

2010-06-01

We, the women of Isha L'Isha – Haifa Feminist Center, express deep shock at the continuing and deteriorating consequences of the siege on Gaza. We express our solidarity with women peace activists who acted to break the inhuman siege on women, children and men; a siege that has been preventing basic human freedoms, health services and essential materials.

Israeli Brutal Attack on the Humanitarian Convoy

2010-06-01

With great shock, PWWSD received the news about the inhuman aggression that the Israeli forces committed against the participants in the Convoy of Humanitarian Aids to Gaza Strip. The Israeli attack represents clear violation of all human and international laws and conventions as it took place in the international water. PWWSD rejects the Israeli claim that their soldiers were attacked by the participants stressing that the Israeli soldiers started the process of piracy by invading the ships at early hours in the morning.

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network condemns the Israeli naval attack against “Gaza Freedom Flotilla”

2010-05-31

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network (EMHRN) strongly condemns the Israeli military attack on the flotilla of ships that was carrying humanitarian aid and supplies to Gaza and resulted in the killings of at least fifteen civilians and the injury of dozens of others.

PCHR Condemns Israeli Attack on Gaza Freedom Flotilla

2010-05-31

The Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) strongly condemns the crime perpetrated by Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) earlier this morning, 31 May 2010, when Israeli Naval Forces attacked the "Gaza Freedom Flotilla" in international waters as it was sailing towards the Gaza Strip.  IOF used excessive and lethal force in its attack on the ships, which left dozens of international civilian solidarity activists who were on board dead or injured.

Today's crime is hideous, and it is a shame for the international community to remain silent while IOF commits systematic war crimes against civilians.

PCHR believes that Israel would not continue to commit crimes and attacks against civilians, including the crime committed today against the "Gaza Freedom Flotilla" and those international solidarity activists aboard, if the international community did not remain silent, thereby failing to fulfill its obligations and duties to enforce international law and provide protection for civilians.

Palestinian and Israeli Human Rights Groups Call for End to Israeli Military West Bank Deportation Policy

2010-05-13

We, the undersigned, express our opposition to Israel's policy of unlawful transfer and deportation from the West Bank, which has escalated in the form of the Order regarding Prevention of Infiltration (Amendment No. 2) (No. 1650) ("Order 1650"). The order, effective April 13, 2010, defines anyone present in the West Bank as an "infiltrator", unless he or she is in possession of a permit from Israel, and subjects those without permits to deportation, transfer, criminal charges, fines, and/or imprisonment. It is part of a series of steps taken by Israel to remove Palestinians from the West Bank by declaring them to be illegally present in their own homes.
